During my undergraduate studies at Carnegie Mellon and graduate studies at Ohio University, I majored in painting, but spent as much time and energy in the print shop working with traditional printmaking techniques--stone lithography, intaglio, screen printing--to create limited editions.
I'm a precisionist and I love to draw. The intricacies and vagaries of printmaking processes were fascinating to me. I became fully fluent in creating traditional prints; I worked for many years with a series of master printers to produce limited editions of my work.
In time, I decided to transfer my knowledge of traditional printmaking techniques (and above all, my sensibilities) to create images with my computer to be printed digitally. The editions below were created by scanning and manipulating dozens of drawings to create images with the complexity and nuance of a classically-made print.
